Leo Aylen is that rarity, an extraordinarily effective poet whose verse not only cries out to be spoken aloud but which also survives on the printed page to communicate, most tellingly, to the inward ear.

Leo Aylen has published 8 poetry collections; he is also published in over 100 anthologies and has been the sole subject of 3 American nationwide TV programs (CBS).

He has been an Arvon, Peterloo, & Bridport prizewinner and broadcasts regularly on BBC R3 & R4. More than 100 of his poems and translations
have been broadcast on radio and television in Britain, Europe, America, and
Africa.

He has held a Distinguished Visiting Professorship at McMaster University, Ontario, and has been Poet in Residence at Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey.

As a writer-director for TV, he has been nominated for a BAFTA award.

He has worked as a screenwriter in Hollywood. Most recently he co-wrote Gods and Generals (Warner Bros, 2003). See film page for a broadband clip
